1968 AMC AMX

AMC AMX . 1968 AMC (American Motors) AMX

Born a 390 4 speed car, but now has a completely rebuilt engine with a brand new B&M transmission and B&M shifter. Car was restored between 2008 and 2012 as a tribute to the Trans Am racing team.
Paint shows storage chips, etc from 6 years in a warehouse after restoration but is in overall great condition.

Original color (red) can be seen in trunk photo.

Car was restored and built by a retired engineer and race engine builder in NE. Very fast. Very unique.

401 Forged Crank

670 cfm 2 bbl FI Holley

9:1 Compression
Runs on pump gas
Hi rise manifold
Big Valves

New B&M TF727 torqueflite
New 3500 stall converter
Engine built for High Torque and lightened wherever possible.
PS/PB conversion.

Do not know if it is a Go Pack car although the trunk has an original Limited Slip sticker in the passenger rear wheel well.

New Custom interior.

Under 500 miles on restoration.

Since my purchase:
New exhaust
New Aluminum radiator
Fuel system flush and refresh
Fuel Injection has been dialed in some but could use some more effort to be just right.

This was a real-deal barn find, pulled from a barn in Iowa in 2008 with the motor and transmission out of the car. Car had been laid up for many years prior but very well preserved.

Body is solid, with only a very small spot of bubbling in one rear fender well. Non-original hood.

This car needs someone to drive it and enjoy a very rare car that will get lots of attention at car shows. Starts (electronic ignition) and runs great.

I know several reasonably priced car carriers who travel east and west. Or take a drive to beautiful Wisconsin and pick it up yourself!
