Pontiac Formula Clone.
The car started out as rust free example 1979 Esprit. The car was locally sold new in Delaware, being Ziebarted back in the day before it left the dealership. I have a huge amount of paperwork on the vehicle. Several years later, and after several of my friends owning it, I finally bought the car and started the restoration.
Out came the the 301 drivetrain including trans and the rear. The car was then sent out for paint. It was done in base clear black, and then 100 hours spent wet sanding the car to what you see here. I then laid 1977 Formula stripes on the car, including a factory 1977 Formula hood. The wheel package chosen was 15 x 10 rally's in rear (custom offsets)with 255/60R15 radials in rear, and 15 x 7 with 225/70R15 in front. All new brakes including pads, calipers, master cylinder etc.
The engine was then detailed to ready for the drivetrain. In went a fully rebuilt 1974 455 block built, with steel crank, forged pistons (compression 9.75 to 1), ported and polished heads (can't remember casting #), hydraulic camshaft with conservative lift at approx.. 515 on 112 degree centers. The factory 4bbl intake remains as to clear the hood when closing. It has a correct coded 850cfm Quadrejet fully restored and plated. The AC system was saved, and all big block brackets installed, with correct compressor and lines. It will need new seals and recharge to operate, but is all there and the compressor clutch free wheels nicely when running.
The transmission was a custom built unit from Del Trans, complete with heavy duty spragg, 2900 stahl converter etc. The posi rear was built in house using all new components including a Traction Loc Posi with 3.42 Richmonds gears and new axles, bearings etc. Absolutely no noise, on the gas, coast and/or decel.
The interior is 90% new, including seat covers from PUI, new headliner with backing, door panel handles, carpet, console shifter plate, package tray, etc.
The car is turn key, runs 100% percent. It will fry the tires, without being hard on it. The exhaust is full 2.5 inch with flowmaster mufflers with cross over, which leaves a great sound at idle with the cam loping around. It just makes you smile.
I built the car myself as I have many others. You must see it, as you can tell I have over 300 hours in it. It is priced low for what your getting. You will not be disappointed. I will consider a trade up or down...............AMERICAN MUSCLE ONLY. Projects are fine. I am reasonably priced, please do the same.
